Star Wars MainTheme Orchestral Mock-Up
This orchestral mock-up is a study of the iconic main theme from Star Wars, recreated using Spitfire Audio’s BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The goal of this exercise was to deepen my understanding of orchestration, phrasing, and balance within a full symphonic context. Particular attention was given to articulation, dynamic shaping, and the interplay between sections—especially brass, strings, and woodwinds, which are central to the character of the original score.
Rather than aiming for a purely technical reproduction, this mock-up focuses on capturing the musical intent and emotional impact of the piece while working within the framework of a sampled orchestra. It also served as an opportunity to refine techniques in MIDI programming, expression control, and spatial positioning.
Projects like this are part of an ongoing exploration into orchestral writing and mock-up realism, with the aim of bridging the gap between composition and production in a cinematic context.
Stop-Motion Rhythm Study
This project explores the relationship between visual motion, rhythm, and musical timing through a handcrafted stop-motion animation created using Play-Doh.
A sequence of 328 photographs was captured and sequenced at a fixed frame duration, then precisely aligned to a tempo of 120 BPM. The visual pacing was constructed to synchronize with an underlying rhythmic grid, effectively treating animation as a form of musical phrasing.
This experiment reflects an interest in the intersection of sound and image, where timing, repetition, and variation shape both visual perception and musical structure.
